WC08 Elective Seminars

Check-in begins on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

Elective seminars provide the opportunity for in-depth training and conversation. These optional three-hour seminars are held Saturday afternoon before YWC/WC begins. Participants must register in advance for these seminars. The cost is $35.

The seminars are offered in conjunction with Youth Workers Connection, and WC participants are welcome to register and attend.

101—Technology and Ministry

What do the Internet, MP3 players, and MySpace have in common?  They are the driving forces behind today's culture, and all thrive on cutting-edge technology.  In this session we will discuss the pros and cons of video teaching, new ministry ideas, and what could be a new form of student ministry in the future!  Leader: Andy Tilly, director of student ministries, Cross Timbers Community Church, Argyle, Texas.

102—Theology of Suffering

We will examine how a proper theological understanding of suffering and celebration allows us to see God at work in all areas of our lives.  An improper understanding of suffering often times leads to a disconnect with those in pain, hindering our ministries of compassion and outreach.  We will examine the theology of suffering with a particular application in the context of cross-cultural and cross-socio-economic ministry.
