A few days ago, I posted Ted Yuen's request for Pentecost song ideas. I typed "Yed" instead of "Ted", and even after editing, the synopsis on the front page continued to display "Yed." Sorry "Yed." Have you picked your songs yet, Yed? If so, what are yey? Anyone else care to suggest songs and hymns of the theme of Pentecost? Katie Martinez

No worries, Katie. I've been called worse :) For Pentecost, we'll be using a great arrangement from Matt Anderson (First Cov Portland) on "Come Down, O Love Divine" Cov Hymnal, 285). It's a powerful 15th c. text and tune written by Ralph Vaughn Williams. Matt arranged it really nicely with guitar, shaker, and 2 vocals.
We'll also use the classic "Spirit of the Living God". I found a second verse on CCLI that is not in the Cov Hymnal that I like a lot. We may use the text "Holy Spirit, Font of Light" (CH, 278) as a prayer. Amazing 12th c. text.
This week is the strange combination of Pentecost/Mother's Day. So, the children's choir will be singing a couple songs, related to our current "Season to Grow" series.
I wrote a song for "Season to Grow" as a theme song for the series, so we'll bring that back this week.
So those are a few elements that we'll be weaving in. We may use "Flowing River" by Rita Baloche or "When the Spirit of the Lord" arranged by Fred Hammond, as well. Or maybe even "The Spirit Song" by John Wimber.
What songs or prayers are other churches using?
