Chamber Singers to Perform Friday in Des Plaines
CHICAGO, IL (February 13, 2001) - North Park University's Chamber Singers, directed by Dr. Karen Bauer, will perform Friday, February 16, for the Northwest Chapter of the Lyric Opera in the Des Plaines Public Library.
The 45-minute concert, which is free and open to the public, will be presented at 841 Graceland Avenue in Des Plaines, a suburb of Chicago. The performance will include music spanning five centuries and opera duets as well as a folk song sampler.
The North Park Chamber Singers were organized in 1967 and originally specialized in Renaissance and Baroque music. The group has performed in 25 states and eight foreign countries, providing more than 600 concerts.
Bauer, who has been on the North Park voice faculty for more than 20 years, has worked under world-famous conductors such as Robert Shaw, Leonard Slatkin and George Solti.
