Racial Reconciliation Focus of January 17 Event

CHICAGO, IL (January 14, 2002) - Rev. B. Herbert Martin will preach at the North Park University chapel service in Anderson Chapel and will join the campus community for a free lunch discussion on racial reconciliation on January 17.

The chapel service begins at 10 a.m. in Anderson Chapel on the NPU campus. The free lunch will start at noon in Viking Hall.

Rev. Martin is pastor of Progressive Community Center: The People's Church on Chicago's south side. He was instrumental in reconciling the neighborhoods of Bronzeville and Bridgeport after a violent attack on an African-American youth divided the neighborhoods.

For more information, call Jennifer Pope, manager of NPU's Institute for Urban Studies, at 773-244-5553. She also can be reached by email at jpope@northpark.edu.
