Racial Reconciliation Weekend to Mark King's Birthday
ST. PAUL, MN (January 16, 2002) - First Covenant Church is hosting a "We Have a Dream" racial reconciliation weekend Saturday and Sunday to commemorate the birthday of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
Brenda Salter McNeil, one of the keynote speakers for the Evangelical Covenant Church's upcoming Midwinter Pastors Conference, will lead a seminar Saturday and preach at the Sunday morning worship service.
Salter McNeil, founder and director of Overflow Ministries in Chicago, will lead First Covenant's "Puzzle Peace Seminar" Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. This seminar will help participants explore the fears, obstacles and joys of finding one's place in God's kingdom and encourage people to begin the journey that leads to self-awareness, self-acceptance and peace between brothers and sisters in Christ. The cost for the day is $50 per person, which
includes a continental breakfast, lunch, the seminar and materials.
The North Park University Gospel Choir will present a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday. A free will offering will be collected for the concert and reception that follow. The choir will also sing at the 10 a.m. Sunday service.
