Vikings Even Score With North Central Victory
NAPERVILLE, IL (January 17, 2002) - Maurice Vaughn scored 19 points and Jason Collins added 16 as the North Park University (NPU) men's basketball team evened its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin record at 1-1 with a 65-53 win at North Central College Wednesday night.
The Vikings, now 6-7 overall, outscored North Central (4-10, 0-4 in the conference) by a 33-18 margin after trailing at halftime. Vaughn helped NPU earn a 50-43 edge in rebounding with 10 rebounds and Collins made 3-of-6 shots from the 3-point line to help his team overcome 16-of-32
free throw shooting.
NPU had gotten 22 points from Vaughn in a 102-68 loss at Illinois Wesleyan University last Saturday. The Vikings host Wheaton College at 7:30 p.m. Saturday before hosting North Central in a 7:30 p.m. contest next Wednesday. Wheaton is rated 14th in the most recent d3hoops.com
