Stockholm Church Seeks Associate Pastor

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (January 21, 2002) - Immanuel International Church, a member of the Swedish Mission Covenant Church, is seeking an associate pastor of youth and families to begin work in August.

The 300 members of Immanuel, an English-language ministry reaching the international community of Stockholm, represent more than 30 nations and major branches (Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox) of the Christian faith.

This position provides spiritual leadership to youth and young adults through the design and implementation of programs and activities that build up young people in the faith and knowledge of God in Jesus Christ. The associate pastor works with the senior pastors in nurturing ministries of support to parents of youth and young adults. This position also recruits and trains volunteer ministry teams.

Other responsibilities include coordinating and maintaining the budget, scheduling and providing resources to youth and young adult ministries, including development of a confirmation program to minister to international youth. The associate pastor is required to support and teach the doctrine and theology of Swedish Covenant Church, the denomination of which Immanuel Church is a member.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a vital personal faith in Jesus Christ, will hold a Master of Divinity degree or equivalent from a seminary that supports the doctrines of the Protestant evangelical tradition, and must be in good standing with his/her denomination's Board of Ministry. He/she must have proven experience and expertise in ministering to youth and young adults in a multicultural context and must exhibit the desire to learn and grow in understanding the Swedish language and culture. Strong relational skills and a spiritual sensitivity in ministering to a variety of people are also required attributes.
