Chicago Church Plant Attracts 170 for Opening Service

CHICAGO, IL (January 24, 2002) - New Community Covenant Church, a congregation meeting in a local movie theater, held its grand opening service last Sunday, attracting 170 for the morning worship service.

Pastor Peter Hong began planting New Community Covenant Church in the Logan Square area of Chicago last July after serving as an associate pastor at Deergrove Covenant Church in Palatine, a Chicago suburb. About 150 individuals attended the church's first preview service at General Cinema Theaters last November.

The church has identified seven community small groups that have started or will start soon, said Hong. New Community Covenant is also seeking church office space near the theater.

For more information about the church and its ministries, call Hong at 773-486-8379 or email him at petershong@juno.com.
