Lucco Nominated for Great Lakes Superintendent Position

HUDSON, OH (January 28, 2002) - Richard Lucco, senior pastor at Trinity Covenant Church in Salem, Oregon, for the past nine years, has been nominated to be the new superintendent of the Great Lakes Conference, replacing the retiring David S. Dahlberg.

Delegates will vote on Lucco during the Great Lakes Conference Annual Meeting April 27 in Muskegon, Michigan, according to conference chair Ken Larson. If elected, Lucco will begin his duties in July.

Richard Lucco Lucco, a graduate of North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, has served on a number of conference and community advisory boards as well as ministries both inside and outside of the church. Before serving at Trinity, he was coordinator for the I Have a Dream Foundation in Elgin, Illinois, and was pastor at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Elgin for nine years. He also served as senior pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Kewanee, Illinois, and was a staff member for Young Life parachurch ministries in Chicago and St. Louis.

At the board level, Lucco has been involved in denominational efforts ranging from CHIC planning events to conference camping boards. He is currently on the North Pacific Conference Executive Board and the Salem, Oregon, Leadership Foundation.

"Dick has a broad ministry background," said Larson, pastor at Faith Covenant Church in Farmington Hills, Michigan. "He came highly recommended to us for his communication ability and we were impressed by his energy and enthusiasm. He is a very engaging person and we think he will do an excellent job interacting with people in local congregations and he will do a good job developing trust with local pastors."

The Great Lakes Conference includes 60 churches in Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia. Dahlberg has been superintendent of the conference for the past 20 years.
