Minnehaha Goalie to Play USC Women's Soccer

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (February 5, 2002) - Senior goalie Katy Boynton of Minnehaha Academy has committed to play women's soccer at the University of Southern California (USC) this fall, according to the school.

Boynton, her team's Most Valuable Player last fall, earned All-Conference and Class A All-State honors for the Redhawks, who are coached by Mark Anderson. She finished her varsity career with 38 shutouts in 63 games in goal. While at Minnehaha, her teams were 56-16-7, winning a state Class A title in 1998.

Along with her high school honors, Boynton has played for an Olympic Development Program in club soccer, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. She plays for the St. Paul Blackhawks Under-18 club team. Boynton is also a co-captain for Minnehaha's Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle group.

Minnehaha Academy is a school sponsored by the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church. For more information about the school, call 612-729-8321.
