Rooms Going Fast for 2002 Feast Celebration
CHICAGO, IL (February 26, 2002) - Feast 2002, a prayer gathering of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC), is gaining momentum as nearly 30 percent of the rooms available for the June 22-25 worship event in Keystone, Colorado, are already booked, according to the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism.
Registration is $75 per individual and $225 per family. Registrants will also need to buy a five-meal package that costs $50 per adult (less for children under age 12). Early bird registration for the event at the Keystone Conference Center runs until May 8, but room options will become limited in the coming weeks, said Art Greco, director of Evangelism and Prayer for the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism. Greco added that churches have been sent videos, full color bulletin inserts and registration forms for easy access to Covenanters.
Feast 2002 will be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the ECC in Keystone, June 25-29. Keystone Conference Center is located near the geographical center of the United States, 75 miles from Denver and 90 miles from Denver International Airport. This is the second Feast
event the denomination has sponsored. The first Feast was held in Green Lake, Wisconsin, in June 1999 and drew 1,000 participants to the Green Lake Conference Center.
There will be six plenary worship services at Feast 2002, beginning on the evening of June 22. Speakers include:
- David Gibbons, pastor of Newsong Community Church in Irvine, California (evening, June 22)
- Alise Barrymore, campus pastor, North Park University in Chicago, Illinois (morning, June 23)
- Brian Brooks, pastor of New Community Covenant Church in Decatur, Georgia (evening, June 23)
- Judy McCullough, pastor of Covenant Congregational Church in Boston, Massachusetts (evening June 23)
- David Nystrom, chair of the Department of Biblical/Theological Studies, North Park University (morning June 24)
- James Fretheim, pastor of First Evangelical Covenant Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan (evening June 24)
- Lon Allison, director of the Billy Graham Center in Wheaton, Illinois (morning June 25)
Most plenary speakers will lead or co-lead various seminars during Feast 2002, along with administrators from conference and denominational offices and other Covenant churches. Paul Lessard, director of Covenant Bible College in Windsor, Colorado, will coordinate worship services at the event.
"The values that were represented at the first Feast will drive this one," Greco said. "And what excites me most is the possibility of what happened last time happening again. It'll be fresh because the context is different, and the things people will bring to the meeting will be different. But there will be engaging speakers, fantastic worship and music experiences, a focus on prayer and a place that is warm and inviting."
"We think this is a significant event for the Covenant, in all of its diversity and ages, to come together in prayer and worship, food and fun," said Gary Walter, executive minister of the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism. "The setting will be spectacular and the recreational opportunities will be plentiful as well. It should be a memorable experience for individuals and families that will attend."
