Oregon Congregation Celebrates New Building
SALEM, OR (March 5, 2002) - Trinity Covenant Church celebrated its new building Sunday as more than 500 attended a blended worship service.
Associate Pastor Steve Eng said that the new building will include 31,000 square feet of space when it is completed later this summer. The church has a new sanctuary that seats 400, along with a Christian education wing, a gymnasium and office space. Final work on the Christian education wing will commence after the old church facility is torn down.
"The new church design is really visitor friendly," said Eng. "We have a very large narthex and foyer area to facilitate people getting to know each other. We have a very large senior high area in our Christian education wing, and we have exceptional acoustics for our traditional and contemporary services. It's state of the art and we were able to get a lot of building for our buck."
Trinity Covenant Church is located in the state capital, a city of more than 125,000 inhabitants. The church has averaged about 330 in worship attendance with two different services. The church has raised about $2 million of the $4 million project cost, with National Covenant Properties providing loan assistance. Eng said the church is committed to using the new building for many community activities.
