Washington Church to Dedicate New Facility
NORTH BEND, WA (March 21, 2002) - Cascade Covenant Church will hold a grand opening service April 21 in its new building and a dedication service for the facility will occur April 28, according to pastor John Jenks.
The new building is 13,000 square feet and will include a multipurpose room that seats 300 for worship, along with a kitchen, seven classrooms and office space. The church had begun looking for land in 1990 and bought land in 1997. After a four-year wait to get a building permit, the congregation held its groundbreaking in February last year. National Covenant Properties participated in project financing.
Cascade Covenant is sharing the responsibilities of the North Pacific Conference annual meeting with Pine Lake Covenant Church in Sammamish next month. Jenks says the church is grateful to be the co-host and thankful for the multiple ways in which the denomination has supported the congregation in its lengthy journey toward moving into the new facility.
"We've had a great deal of support from the denomination, the congregation and our Covenant family," said Jenks. "It's a beautiful new facility and a very excited and committed congregation. We're thrilled with the opportunities God is going to give us."
Cascade Covenant has an average worship attendance of 175, said Jenks, who was pastor when the church was founded in 1989. The church is 30 miles east of Seattle in a mountain valley town of 10,000 inhabitants. "We're about 10 miles from the suburban edge, but we're right off the freeway," Jenks said. "We are a bedroom community, but we have a small town ministry. It's not just a suburban extension - we're at the base of the Cascade mountains."
