North Park Trounces North Central in Baseball Action
NAPERVILLE, IL (April 3, 2002) - Jeff Hanson of Hillside Covenant Church in
Walnut Creek, California, tossed a complete game three-hitter and North
Park University (NPU) scored four runs in the first inning to beat North
Central College 5-1 Tuesday at North Central's Alumni Field.
Hanson struck out eight and walked one in moving to 2-3 overall. His
team played errorless baseball and produced four of their eight hits in
the opening inning to put the game away.
Jim Moretti had a run scoring single and Dion Rubino added a two-run
single off losing pitcher Travis Kerber to give Hanson an early cushion.
The sophomore cruised through the first six innings before allowing two
hits and a run in the seventh. Hanson finished strongly, however,
striking out the final two Cardinal hitters as NPU moved to 4-13
overall, 2-2 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play.
