EuroConference Provides Forum for Sharing Ministry
MALAGA, SPAIN (April 25, 2002) - Covenant missionaries gathered for the fifth
annual Covenant Missionary EuroConference earlier this month with Cheri
Auman and O'Ann Steere, Mike and Char Hayes and David Stockamp as special
guests.
The conference provided an opportunity for participants to share their
unique ministries in various locations.
In the coming weeks, Covenanters from California and Washington will be
meeting with Eugenio and Pia Restrepo and Richard and Jan Epps-Dawson in
Spain to explore development of a new ministry to Muslims in Europe.
Churches in Malaga and LaCoruña (a cell church plant), with leadership from
the Restrepos and Roberto and Nancy Reed, continue to experience growth.
Leaders are being developed, people are being baptized and evangelistic
efforts are contextualized and adventurous, said conference spokesperson
Jan Epps-Dawson.
In France, missionaries Francisco and Stephanie Ramos and Kathy Choi are
working out details for a new ministry to bring the gospel and art to
communities during 2003. Local churches will be engaged and challenged to
present the gospel in their own context using art and the Bible as the
springboard.
Covenant missionaries in the Czech Republic have strengthened that
country's spiritual life by contributing to the establishment of an
international school and a theological seminary, with missionaries serving
on the boards of both institutions. In Germany, Covenant missionaries have
developed a new emphasis on holistic ministry through local churches. This
ministry complements the German partnership established in that country
some years ago.
Covenant churches and pastors continue to seek new relationships in Eastern
Europe. Individuals with information that could prove valuable in building
that process are asked to contact Jan Epps-Dawson by email at
eppsdawson@t-online.de.
