North Park Loses Doubleheader to Millikin
DECATUR, IL (May 1, 2002) - The North Park University softball team dropped a
doubleheader at Millikin last Sunday by scores of 3-2 and 7-0.
Overall, the Vikings finished 19-22 overall, 4-10 in the College Conference
of Illinois and Wisconsin. The 19 wins ties last year's school record for
wins.
Sophomore Kim Walker of Chicago led the team in most offensive categories,
including batting average (.366), hits (45), doubles (11), triples (5),
homers (4) and runs batted in (31). She also finished 13-12 as a pitcher
and had an earned run average of 2.24.
Seniors Madi Musgraves and Heather Fitzgerald hit .265 and .259
respectively for North Park. Musgraves had two of her team's hits in game
two at Millikin last weekend while Fitzgerald's fifth-inning RBI single
gave the Vikings a brief 2-1 lead in game one before Millikin scored once
in the sixth and seventh innings for the victory.
