Daily Covenant News Headline Service Now Available
CHICAGO, IL (May 31, 2002) - Covenant news headlines can now be delivered daily
to individual email accounts, thanks to the new Covenant Newswire
service provided by the Department of Communication of the Evangelical
Covenant Church.
Covenant Newswire is a free subscription-based service that provides
subscribers with daily recaps of news stories posted to the Covenant web
site, according to Don Meyer, the department's administrator.
"Subscribers receive one email message each day that contains headlines and
the first sentence for each news story posted during the previous 24-hour
period," Meyer said in explaining the new service. The daily recap is
generated at 3 a.m. each day, which means that breaking news stories posted
during a given day will not be picked up until the following 3 a.m. sweep.
"Those wanting to remain current with breaking stories will still want to
visit the news site during the day," Meyer observed, noting that news
stories are posted throughout a given day as they are developed.
"This new service will be especially helpful to those with busy schedules
that preclude them from regularly visiting the news site," Meyer added.
Individuals interested in subscribing can do so by visiting the Covenant
home page at www.covchurch.org and clicking on the Covenant Newswire
box at the top of the news section. The same online form can also be used
to unsubscribe to the service at any time.
Future plans call for inclusion of other important Covenant-related
information on a once-a-month basis as an additional means of keeping
Covenanters informed.
