Mt. Miguel Village Cited as Business of the Year
SPRING VALLEY, CA (June 12, 2002) - One of the Covenant Retirement Communities of
the Evangelical Covenant Church received a rare honor recently as Mt.
Miguel Covenant Village was named "Business of the Year" by the Spring
Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber will present the award to Mt. Miguel representatives during a
recognition dinner Friday. Diane Beene is the Mt. Miguel representative in
the Chamber of Commerce in Spring Valley, a suburb of San Diego. The
Chamber was founded in 1935 and currently has 208 business members.
Beene is a member of the Chamber's Board of Directors for 2001-2002. In a
recent newsletter article, Associate Administrator Randy Veenstra noted
Beene's
notable community service as a key reason for Mt. Miguel's latest honor.
Besides serving on the Chamber board, Beene is involved with the Spring
Valley Citizens Association, the Sheriff's Community Advisory Panel,
Directors of Volunteers in Agencies and in a local Trauma Intervention
Program. In the latter program, she is on-call for three 12-hour shifts per
month to offer help in various emergency crisis
situations.
Mt. Miguel Covenant Village is a residential retirement community offering
252 units for independent living, along with a 48-unit assisted living
facility and a 99-bed skilled nursing facility for both short and long-term
care.
