Covenant Shot Put Title Holder Signs With USC

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 5, 2002) - Noah Bryant of Montecito Covenant Church in Santa Barbara signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles after winning the California Interscholastic Federation state shot put title.

Bryant, who attended Carpinteria High School in Santa Barbara, posted the seventh (tie) best shot put toss this season by a U.S. high school student. The top five throws came from Kevin Bookout of Stroud, Oklahoma. Bryant won the Golden West Invitational meet shot put event in Sacramento a week after winning state. He recently finished fifth at the 2002 Junior Track and Field Nationals at Stanford University in Palo Alto - four collegiate shot putters beat Bryant at Stanford.

Long considered one of the top programs in the nation, the USC track and field program finished in a tie for 12th in the NCAA outdoor championships.
