Plymouth (MN) Church to Celebrate 25 Years
PLYMOUTH, MN (July 11, 2002) - Plymouth Evangelical Covenant Church will
celebrate its 25th anniversary September 7-8 with a number of activities.
On September 7, the church will host a co-ed Best Ball Golf Tournament at
Shamrock Golf Course in nearby Corcoran. The first tee time is set for 11
a.m. An all-church pig roast will be held later that day with games and
activities for all ages.
On September 8, the congregation will celebrate its kickoff Sunday
beginning with worship services at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Plymouth Evangelical Covenant Church, located in a northwest suburb of
Minneapolis, has an average worship attendance of well over 500. The lead
pastor is Dan Johnson. The church began worship services at a local school
in 1977 and moved into its current building three years later. The church
has already planted another Covenant church, Riverwood Covenant Church in
nearby Rockford.
Besides its passion for church planting, the congregation has been heavily
mission-minded from its beginning and continues to exhibit that quality.
Two groups are headed to Mexico and Ecuador respectively in August. Two
parishioners, Gil and Kathy Russell, are currently on a short-term mission
trip to Russia.
