Loveland (CO) Church to Celebrate 50th Anniversary
LOVELAND, CO (July 22, 2002) - LifeSpring Covenant Church in Loveland, Colorado,
will celebrate 50 years of ministry during the weekend of September 14-15.
A celebration banquet will be held Saturday evening, September 14, at the
Evangelical Covenant Church in Fort Collins, Colorado. On Sunday, Art
Greco, director of prayer and evangelism for the Department of Church
Growth and Evangelism, will be the
guest speaker.
LifeSpring Covenant Church, originally known as Loveland Covenant Church,
had its first worship service January 27, 1952, under Pastor Joseph Broman,
who served at the Swedish National Sanatorium of Denver. Soon after, Pastor
Bertil Lovain came to serve the church, which had a membership of 32 and
met at a local community center. At the time, Loveland (located 60 miles
north of Denver) was a town of 8,000 population.
A year later, the church was officially accepted into the Evangelical
Covenant Church.
Thanks to help from the Covenant's Frontier Friends campaign, a building
was constructed and the new facility was dedicated May 9, 1954. There were
more than 80 participating in the life of the church by then. The
congregation has continued to blossom in a blossoming city.
Currently, the church has an average worship attendance of 521 in Loveland,
which has grown to around 50,000 population. The interim pastor is Wendell
Grout.
