Covenant Shores Raises $12,000 to Benefit New Facility
MERCER ISLAND, WA (July 24, 2002) - Covenant Shores retirement community
celebrated its ongoing ministry with The Big Event, with more than 250
people attending festivities last Sunday afternoon.
The first-time event had a carnival-like atmosphere as barbecues blazed and
popcorn popped on a sunny summer day. The pleasant weather and festive
surroundings had a positive impact. Covenant Shores raised more than
$12,000, which will be used for items to enhance a new assisted living and
independent living facility.
"We had accordion players, hula dancers and clowns . . . it was a really
festive affair," said Maureen Canny, administrative assistant at Covenant
Shores. "We had kids of all ages and they liked the dunk tank. The
residents came out and we had a great time. It was a perfect day."
Covenant Shores has been in existence for 23 years. Formerly an apartment
complex, the facility has about 250 residents, located on Lake Washington
in a suburb of Seattle.
