Service Held Monday for Clarence H. Peterson
BERLIN, CT (August 13, 2002) - A funeral service was conducted Monday at Bethany
Covenant Church in Berlin for retired Covenant minister Clarence H.
Peterson, who died at Pilgrim
Manor in Cromwell last Friday.
Ordained as a Covenant pastor in 1949, Peterson served in Covenant churches
in Harbert, Michigan; Crookston, Minnesota; and Weston, Connecticut. He
graduated from North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago after earning his
undergraduate degree at Michigan State Teachers College in Kalamazoo,
Michigan, and a Master of Science degree at the University of Bridgeport
(Connecticut).
After leaving full-time church ministry, Peterson served 16 years as a
Protestant chaplain at Norwich State Hospital in Connecticut. He
volunteered with the Alcohol and Drug
Abuse Program at Norwich Hospital and at Connecticut Valley Hospital in
Middletown during his retirement years.
Peterson is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Gerard Creme
of West Hartford, Connecticut, and by a granddaughter, Catherine. A nephew,
Mark Pearson, is a pastor at Christ Evangelical Covenant Church in
Portland, Maine. Peterson's wife, Margaret, died in 1999.
