Cromwell Home Announces New Chief Officer

CROMWELL, CT (August 15, 2002) - Dr. David E. Jacobsen is the new chief executive officer of The Children's Home of Cromwell (CHOC), effective July 1. He joined the home after serving as director of residential treatment at Lydia Home Association in Chicago.

Jacobsen family Jacobsen earned a doctorate and a master's degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, and a Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude) from North Park University (then College).

Jacobsen, his wife, Karin, and their three children now reside in Middletown, Connecticut (accompanying photo). Throughout the summer and fall, Jacobsen is speaking at several local churches.

The Jacobsens come to Cromwell from Northwest Covenant Church in Mount Prospect, Illinois, where his father, Dr. Herbert K. Jacobsen, is the pastor.

Jacobsen replaces David J. Carlson, who retired July 1 after 32 years of service to The Children's Home, the last 11 years as chief executive officer. In addition to Jacobsen's work at The Children's Home, he also administers patients and residents at Pilgrim Manor and Covenant Village of Cromwell. He is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, serves as an instructor of psychology at Middlesex Community Technical College, serves as a field instructor at the University of Connecticut, and as a lecturer to civic and professional organizations, and serves as a peer reviewer for the national Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children He is a member of the Exchange Club, is an avid golfer and is involved in a variety of ministries at Bethany Covenant Church in Berlin, Connecticut.
