New Richmond (WI) Church Dedicates New Building
NEW RICHMOND, WI (August 29, 2002) - Prairieview Covenant Church dedicated its
new building Sunday as 200 attended a special service during the afternoon.
Pastor Rudy King said that about 350 people were part of all or some of the
festivities, which included Sunday morning worship, a luncheon and the
dedication. A number of Covenant congregations sent representatives to
offer special music either at the Sunday morning worship or the dedication
services. Northwest Conference Supt. Paul Erickson attended the dedication,
which included an historical look at the building project and a puppet
presentation for children.
Prairieview Covenant Church is nearly finished with its building project,
as the first 12,000 square feet of the 16,000-square-foot building plan is
nearly completed. A 4,000-square-foot sanctuary will be completed during
the next two years, said King. The church currently uses the fellowship
hall for worship.
More than $500,000 in construction expense has been saved to date, thanks
to 20,500 hours in donated labor. Individuals from 28 churches (more than
300 individuals) have helped with the project, which officially began in
June 2001. The congregation celebrated its first service in the new
building on Easter Sunday. Prairieview Covenant had an average worship
attendance of 65 in July, which nearly doubled the attendance over the
previous year.
King asks that people pray for musical resources to come to the church,
which has been enlisting help from other congregations in recent months.
The church also prays that it can be financially self-supporting by the end
of 2003. The Lake Pepin District of the Northwest Conference has pledged
financial help during the past two years, along with conference and
denominational assistance.
