Wally Lindskoog Honored at World Dairy Expo
MADISON, WI (October 7, 2002) - Turlock Covenant Church member Wally Lindskoog
was one of four people honored October 1 at the World Dairy Expo 2002
"Dinner with the Stars" in the Alliant Energy Center here.
Lindskoog was named Dairyman of the Year. Others honored included: Rita
Kennedy of Valencia, Pennsylvania, as Dairy Woman of the Year; Gregory
Blaska of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, as Industry Person of the Year; and James
Thwaites of Taranaki, New Zealand, as International Person of the Year.
World Dairy Expo is the world's largest annual dairy focused event. The
World Dairy Expo awards honor individuals who exemplify the best in
business, civic and family leadership.
Lindskoog and his Arlinda Farm Holstein cattle have dominated the scene for
top cattle genetics and have done so for more than 30 years, according to a
recent article on the World Dairy Expo web site. Lindskoog's Arlinda line
has merited 23 different bull listings on the Top 100 TPI summary since
first published in 1979. High genetic quality
cattle have translated into top milk production.
Arlinda farms has been the highest-producing herd in its county, based on
size, nearly every year for the last 25 years. Lindskoog has logged nearly
7,500 hours of flight as a pilot and is a leading turkey hatchery man on
the West Coast, hatching almost 10 million eggs annually.
Besides his dairy work, Lindskoog helped start a local radio station and
has served on many boards for local and national religious groups,
including the Evangelical Covenant Church. Last October, Lindskoog sold the
herd, but he still raises his voice as a tenor in the Sanctuary Choir of
Turlock Covenant Church, as he has for the last 60 years. Lindskoog and his
wife, Arlene, celebrated 63 years of marriage this year. The parents of
four children - Stanley, Ruth, Wade and Mark - they enjoy their eight
grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
