Israeli-Palestinian Relationships Focus of Film at NPU

CHICAGO, IL (October 10, 2002) - A documentary film portraying the complex relationships between Israel and Palestine is being shown in North Park University's Viking Hall at 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

"Promises," the Academy Award nominated film, is being sponsored by the school's Center for Middle Eastern Studies. General admission is $5 for adults, $2 for students.

The documentary follows filmmaker B.Z. Goldberg, an American who grew up in Jerusalem and was a journalist during the Palestinian uprising, as he travels back to Israel and Palestinian communities in the volatile West Bank region. Seven Israeli and Palestinian children between the ages of 9-13 are featured in the film, which spotlights the group from 1997-2000.
