Covenant Athletes Among All-CCIW Team Picks
WHEATON, IL (November 23, 2002) - North Park University (NPU) midfielder Greger
Svensson earned first team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin
(CCIW) men's soccer honors as coaches picked All-CCIW teams in fall sports.
Svensson, a junior from Jonkoping, Sweden, scored six goals and had four
assists for the Vikings, who finished 9-6-3 overall. Senior defender Shawn
White of New Port Richey, Florida, junior forward Andreas Olofsson of
Tomelilla, Sweden, and freshman midfielder Darryl Payne of Moline,
Illinois, made the second team. Olofsson had seven goals and seven assists
to lead NPU in both categories this fall.
NPU players receiving All-CCIW mention in other fall sports include the
following:
- Freshman defender Mallory Nelson of South St. Paul, Minnesota, second
team All-CCIW plaudits for the Vikings in women's soccer.
- Freshman wide receiver Jon Harris of Normal, Illinois, second team
All-Conference honors for the NPU football team. He caught 33 passes in
CCIW action and tied for third individually with five touchdowns.
- Sophomore defensive specialist Amanda Klufetos of Addison, Illinois,
honorable mention All-CCIW pick in volleyball. She was second in digs per
game in conference play.
