Sounds of the Orient Concert December 4
CHICAGO, IL (November 27, 2002) - North Park University (NPU) will feature
instrumentalists Hicham Chami and Kalyan Pathak during a "Sounds of the
Orient" concert in Anderson Chapel at 7:30 p.m. December 4.
The concert is open to the public for a $5 donation. The event is sponsored
by Xauen Music, Inc., along with NPU's Institute for International and
Cultural Studies and the Middle East Students Association. Chami (qanun)
and Pathak (percussion) will perform
classical instrumental works from Palestine, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia,
Egypt, Turkey, Armenia and India.
During intermission, there will be a debut video showing of "The Longing,"
a play written by NPU professor of communication arts and theater Robert
Hostetter that dramatizes the Palestinian experience from 1948 through the
present.
