The Holmstad Seeks Dining Service Director
BATAVIA, IL (February 6, 2003) - The Holmstad is seeking a campus dining service
director to provide leadership and direction to the dining service
department of The Holmstad.
The dining service department provides food service for residential living,
assisted living and skilled nursing. This position supervises and manages
all food service functions and personnel, food production, dining room
service and nutritional care. This position will ensure that all
departmental requirements are met in accordance with federal, state and
local standards and is further responsible for developing and managing
dietary needs of all residents of The Holmstad in accordance with Covenant
Retirement Communities policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will have:
- A bachelor's degree in food service management or its equivalent. A
registered dietician is preferred.
- Additional training/experience in business, accounting, personnel
management and dietetics is desired.
- A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a dining
service, team-oriented environment.
- A demonstrated knowledge of cost accounting, menu planning, budget
forecasting and competitive purchasing procedures.
This individual must possess excellent leadership skills, strong
organizational skills, professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills.
The ability to handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities in a
professional and prompt manner is necessary. The successful candidate must
be tactful and possess excellent communication skills (English, written and
oral). The individual must be dependable, have good judgment and
initiative. The ability to understand and show compassion and patience to
senior adults is essential. Familiarity and compatibility with the mission
of The Evangelical Covenant Church is essential and an understanding of
Covenant Affirmations is important. This position requires the availability
of evenings, weekends, and holidays.
