Covenant Youth Take Top Wrestling Honors
SALINA, KS (March 8, 2003) - First Covenant Church teen Sean Pietrzyk won the
Kansas High School State Wrestling championship on March 1, taking the
152-pound title and finishing the season 34-1 overall. Pietrzyk, a
sophomore at Salina South High School, is currently ranked 10th in his
weight division by USA Wrestling.
Meanwhile, in Olympia, Washington, Grace Covenant Church's Nathanael Hicks
placed fourth in the Washington state Class 2-A Mat Classic XV wrestling
tournament at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma. The junior represented Tenino High
School in the 140-pound weight class, going 3-2 during the event. Last
year, Hicks placed fifth at state in the
125-pound weight class.
