Baseball Vikings Overcome North Central College
NAPERVILLE, IL (April 2, 2003) - Nick Carino-Marek hit a sixth-inning grand slam
homer and Alexis Hernandez tossed six innings of shutout baseball as North
Park University (NPU) beat North Central College 4-0 in the second game of
a doubleheader Tuesday.
Hernandez has been a bright spot on the mound for the Vikings, having won
both of his decisions while throwing nine scoreless innings. After
Hernandez kept North Central's bats quiet for six innings, Jeff Hanson
threw a scoreless seventh for the Vikings, 2-15 overall, 1-4 in
conference play. North Central won the first game of the College Conference
of Illinois and Wisconsin twin bill 10-0.
NPU plays a Friday non-CCIW game at Illinois Institute of Technology. On
Saturday, the Vikings play a noon CCIW doubleheader at Elmhurst College.
