Robert Auger New Head of CBC-Ecuador
LA MERCED, ECUADOR (April 21, 2003) - Robert Auger has accepted the call as the
new executive director of Covenant Bible College-Ecuador, replacing current
executive director Todd Slechta.
Auger and his wife, Debra, have served as faculty members in CBC-Ecuador's
ministry arts program - Robert was director of ministry arts - during the
past two years. They have four children. Slechta has accepted a call as
executive director of the CBC-Canada campus in Strathmore, Alberta,
beginning in August.
A graduate of Barrington College in Rhode Island where he studied music,
Auger completed a Masters degree in marriage and family therapy at the
University of Rhode Island and served as a licensed marriage and family
therapist before heading to Ecuador
The Augers gained valuable ministry arts experience with Covenant
Heartsong, a ministry based in Chicago and sponsored by the Evangelical
Covenant Church's former Department of Christian Education and Discipleship
(now Christian Formation). In the early 1980s, each led a separate ministry
team during tours throughout North America.
Later during that decade, they served as worship and youth pastors at
Deerbrook Covenant Church in Humble, Texas, as part of Bandwagon
Ministries, a ministry that helped Midsouth region churches through the
Department of Church Growth and Evangelism. They also aided in the
production of Quigley's Village children's videos.
"Bob and his wife (and four children - Hannah, Sam, Zach and Libby) have
been on staff with us since the summer of 2001 and he will bring
continuity, familiarity, administrative and pastoral skills to the
leadership of CBC-Ecuador," said Slechta. "We thank God for His provision
and guidance. Please pray for the Auger family and for Bob in particular as
he prepares for what I have found to be the most satisfying, challenging,
inspiring and faith-building experience of my three-plus-year tenure with
CBC-Ecuador."
