Muskegon (MI) Covenanter 'Volunteer of Year'

MUSKEGON, MI (August 12, 2003) - Dave Kendall of Forest Park Covenant Church in Muskegon was recently named Volunteer of the Year by the American Red Cross.

Kendall joined the American Red Cross in 1989 and began volunteering on weekends and evenings to drive blood products to hospitals in the West Michigan area. After retiring from his full-time job at an insurance agency, Kendall added to his responsibilities for the Red Cross, driving area seniors to medical appointments for the organization's senior transportation program.

In recent years, Kendall became a member of the local disaster team, responding to emergencies such as house fires and windstorms. He also is involved with the National Disaster Program, the Old Newsboys organization and the American Cancer Society.

In addition to his volunteer work with the American Red Cross, Kendall has donated more than 15 gallons of blood.
