Palestinian Theologian to Speak at NPU
CHICAGO, IL (August 15, 2003) - Dr. Naim Ateek, director and founder of the
Sabeel Ecumenical Theology Center in Jerusalem, will speak at North Park
University (NPU) on September 18 at Anderson Chapel.
The 7:30 p.m. lecture is entitled, "The Road Map Meets the Wall: What
Hope for a Just Peace in the Holy Land." It is sponsored by NPU's Center
for Middle Eastern Studies, which was established in 1995.
Dr. Ateek was parish priest and canon for 13 years at St. George's
Cathedral in Jerusalem before accepting his current position. A noted
author and speaker, his role is to help strengthen the faith of
Palestinian Christians and to share the life and witness of that
community with those outside the region.
