Golf Tourney Raises Funds for Moms, Kids
VISTA, CA (September 19, 2003) - Oak Hills Covenant Church is sponsoring its
ninth annual Golf Fore Youth tournament on September 29 at Shadowridge
Country Club.
Tournament registration, practice and a continental breakfast begin at 9
a.m., followed by a "shotgun" start at 11:30 a.m. An auction and awards
banquet at 5:00 p.m. will conclude the day's events. Proceeds help
provide operating funds for North San Diego County Solutions for Change,
which assists homeless mothers and children. It also helps fund
scholarships ("camperships") to enable needy kids to attend Alpine
Covenant Conference Center in southern California and aids middle and
high school teen outreach ministries of Young Life and the "Rock" Youth
Ministries of Oak Hills Covenant Church
of Vista.
Golf Fore Youth has turned into a stellar fundraiser as last year's
tournament raised more than $34,000. In addition to funds raised through
tournament registration fees and auctions, a number of corporate
sponsors help underwrite Golf Fore Youth. Past
tournament corporate sponsors have included the San Diego Chargers and
Padres professional sports teams, the renowned Southern California
restaurant chain,
In-N-Out Burger, and nationally known golf equipment manufacturers such
as Acushnet, Taylor Made and Club Corporation of America.
Tournament host Shadowridge Country Club is well known in Southern
California as a challenging 36 hole, par 72 championship course and is
the centerpiece of Shadowridge, an extensive planned community and home
to Oak Hills Covenant Church.
