Vikings Win Home Soccer Opener
CHICAGO, IL (September 19, 2003) - Adam Johnson had a goal and two assists as
North Park
University (NPU) won its home soccer game opener by beating Milwaukee
School of Engineering (MSOE) 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
Isaac Lee opened the scoring with a goal 15 minutes into the game on an
assist from Johnson. Kyle Fisher scored 10 minutes later to put NPU up
2-0 but MSOE's Patrick Goodale narrowed the lead to 2-1 at the 28:00
mark. Nick Bruckner gave North Park a 3-1 lead at the 40:00 mark
(Johnson and Lee assisted) and Johnson scored the game's final goal at
the 65:00 mark on an assist from Yan Bashkin.
Senior Matt Evans picked up the win in goal for the Vikings, now 4-2-1
this season, and freshman Austin Person tallied three saves after
replacing Evans in the second half.
The NPU women's team played at Wheaton College Wednesday night in a
College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game and lost to the
second-rated team in the Division III rankings by a 4-0 margin. The
Vikings fell to 2-4 overall despite nine saves by goalie Erin Neises.
