New Memorial Service Date for Denise Sands
NASSAU, BAHAMAS (September 22, 2003) - NASSAU, BAHAMAS (September 22) – A funeral service will be held at 11
a.m. Saturday morning in the Bahamas for Denise Sands, wife of Joshua
Sands, former pastor of a Covenant congregation in Atlanta who is now
ministering in the Bahamas. The date for a memorial service, announced
yesterday, has been changed.
Sands, whose husband now works as a pastor in the Bahamas, was working
at a school she helped start when she collapsed and died while leading a
chapel service. The 47-year-old had no known health problems, said
Southeast Conference Supt. Kurt Miericke, a friend of the family. The
family was heavily involved in work on a Bible school with
possible church connections in Haiti, St. Vincent Island and Jamaica.
Before heading to the Carribean, Denise Sands served three years on the
Southeast Conference Executive Board while her husband had been pastor
of Christian Evangelical Fellowship Covenant Church, now known as New
Fellowship Church in Atlanta.
The originally announced date for a memorial service has been changed to
2 p.m. on Saturday, October 4. That service will be at New Fellowship
Church.
Denise is survived by her husband Joshua and three daughters.
