Bellingham (WA) Celebrates Grand Opening
BELLINGHAM, WA (October 1, 2003) - Nearly 400 people attended two morning worship
services as Bellingham Covenant Church hosted a grand opening at the church
on Sunday.
Bellingham Covenant had a neighborhood block party during the afternoon as
food booths, the local fire department and a number of classic cars were
part of the day's activities. The high school drama group also assisted and
an area singer and a local band performed during the day.
The prime reason for the grand opening was the opening of new $4.2 million
facility, which includes a sanctuary seating 400 and a gymnasium.
Groundbreaking for the facility occurred in August 2002. Pastor Dan Boyce
leads the congregation of 200 in a city located 90 minutes north of
Seattle.
Bellingham Covenant dedicated its 30,000-square-foot, one-floor building on
September 7. The congregation also hosted homecoming services on September
14 as previous senior pastors Ray Anderson (1962-64), Carleton Peterson
(1970-1985), Ken Larson (1985-1990), Brad Hill (1991-99) and Jerry Johnson
(1999-2001) were among the honored guests. Hill preached at one service and
Peterson preached at the second service on September 14.
