Funeral Services Held for Former Covenant Missionary Schneider
WAUSA, NE (October 27, 2003) - Funeral services were held on October 18 at the
Evangelical Covenant Church in Wausa for former Covenant missionary
Stanley Schneider, who died on October 11. Born December 18, 1909, he
was 93.
Randy Rodenborg, pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Wausa, and
W. Edward Rickman officiated at the funeral service.
Schneider married Lucile Dahl in 1958. During the 1950s and 1960s the
Shneiders served in various capacities as Covenant missionaries in Nome,
Mountain Village, and Unalakleet, Alaska. They also worked at the
Moravian children's home in Kwethluk, Alaska.
Schneider served eight years in Covenant missions while his wife served
16, said Eileen Thorpe of Covenant World Mission.
During retirement years, the Schneiders lived in Wausa, Nebraska, and
also at Covenant Manor in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Schneider died in a
Colorado Springs hospital after becoming ill while visiting one of his
daughters.
Schneider is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lucile, two daughters,
Judy (Jim) Anderson of Maryland and Jackie (David) Hampton of Colorado
and their families.
