NPTS Seeking Applicants for Gifts Officer
CHICAGO, IL (October 30, 2003) - North Park Theological Seminary (NPTS) is
seeking applicants for a full-time position as Seminary Gifts Officer,
according to NPTS president and dean John E. Phelan, Jr.
The Seminary Gifts Officer will carry out strategies for achieving
annual development goals for NPTS, such as the Seminary Presidential
Scholarships and Seminary Annual Fund. In particular, candidates must
have experience in non-profit fund raising, a strong knowledge of the
Evangelical Covenant Church, and a willingness to spend significant time
away from NPTS traveling to prospective major donors.
The top priorities for this position include:
- Helping plan strategies with the Director of Major Gifts and
Seminary Advancement for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and
stewardship of major prospects
- Managing a prospect load of individuals and churches capable of
making gifts of $1,000 per year and greater
- Helping carry out comprehensive acquisition activities within the
greater potential audience for NPTS through events, referrals,
self-selection, and other venues for broadcasting the Seminary story
- Serving as day-to-day point of contact for development activities
within the Seminary community.
Those applying for this position must have a Bachelor's degree, three to
five years experience in major gifts or development work, strong
communication skills and experience using data base programs for support
of major gift programs and other development activities.
Previous Seminary Gifts Officer LeRoy Carlson served NPTS for 12 years
and helped significantly increase the NPTS annual fund giving. He has
accepted an interim pastoral position at Broadway Evangelical Covenant
Church in Rockford, Illinois, beginning next month.
