New Video Overviews CWM Ministries
CHICAGO, IL (November 11, 2003) - A new video has been released that overviews
the work of Covenant Women Ministries (CWM) - a joint project of a
Washington Covenant church, CWM and the North Pacific Conference of the
Evangelical Covenant Church.
The 33-minute informational video, produced last spring, and a companion
question-and-answer discussion guide hopefully will be helpful to those not
familiar with CWM, says Ruth Hill, executive minister.
"The perspective of women ministries as a tool of the church may be new to
some leaders," she says. "We're excited about this new video and we are
convinced this
perspective will bring new life to women ministries and will tie them more
closely to the church's vision. Not only does it show eight ways women
ministries can grow and strengthen the church, it also clarifies our vision
and philosophy of ministry and the potential women ministries have to
advance God's kingdom in the Covenant and around the world."
The CWM video project idea was sparked by a CWM Sunday presentation in
February 2002, according to Lenore Three Stars of South Lake Stevens
Covenant Church in Washington. After her church showed a video about CWM's
2002 project for
helping women and children in Congo, an anonymous donor contributed $2,275.
Half of that money was to be used for the 2002 CWM Congo project and the
remaining half was to be used for a project of CWM's choice.
CWM had put together a PowerPoint presentation to be used as a pastor's
tool in Covenant churches. In the spring of 2002, the South Lake Stevens
church CWM group and Hill discussed a collaborative effort to produce a
training video. The church's 20-member CWM group enlisted the help of the
conference CWM board - president Vivian Kamph noted the conference and the
church CWM group combined to defray costs for the video.
"When Ruth (Hill) asked me if I meant that our CWM group would like to
assist financially, I felt led to propose the idea to our CWM leadership
group," Three
Stars said. "We knew that we had no budget or experience in such things,
but we knew that a gift of $1,135.50 was for something. After we agreed to
proceed, the Lord opened all the doors and windows - the women were
supportive, a wonderful Christian
videographer was revealed to us, CWM of the North Pacific Conference agreed
to partner with us financially and in April 2003, the video was
successfully filmed at our church. We look back on it in wonder that we
ever considered doing it and it makes us glad."
