North Haven Church Celebrates 50th Anniversary
CUYAHOGA FALLS, OH (November 25, 2003) - North Haven Covenant Church
celebrated its 50th anniversary with a series of events November 21-23.
The church began the 50th anniversary weekend with a family reunion
dessert last Friday at the church, said pastor Corey Johnsrud. The mayor
of Cuyahoga Falls and a son of the church, Don Robart, gave a special
proclamation for the anniversary. On Saturday evening, Todd Warren, one
of the performers at The Feast 2002, was the special musician at a
dinner and concert. Johnsrud and former pastor Russ Carlson (now at
Forest Lake Covenant Church in Muskegon, Michigan) preached during the
50th anniversary Sunday on November 23 while founding pastor Don Pearson
led the invocation.
Dick Lucco, superintendent of the Great Lakes Conference, preached the
morning sermon on November 16 as part of the month-long celebration.
Along with the anniversary festivities, the church has been doing a
sanctuary renovation that is to be completed by Easter. The church is
converting to a multipurpose facility that will seat around 175 and be
used for youth and community events.
