Sioux Falls (SD) Church Dedicates Building
SIOUX FALLS, SD (December 5, 2003) - Prairie Hills Covenant Church held
dedication services last Sunday for an 18,000-square foot-facility
situated on a 12-acre site. Northwest Conference Supt. Jim Fretheim
preached at both worship services.
Previous pastors Alan Holte and Norm Barram attended the November 30
event for 280 as guests, said Andrew Burnett, who is co-pastor along
with his wife Dawn. Diana Wymore and Kyle Small were other former staff
ministers at the dedication.
This is the third location for Prairie Hills, originally organized as
First Covenant Church in 1948. The church had recently shared space with
a local Baptist congregation that has bought Prairie Hills' existing
facility. The new building includes a sanctuary that seats around 300
people and classroom space, along with a fellowship hall and a large
narthex.
"It's great to see God at work through His people," said Andrew Burnett.
"Relocating a church is not easy. But our congregation has been
energized by the mission possibilities of a larger facility and more
visible location. And the response we've already seen from the community
validates this step of faith.
"People have stepped up in amazing ways, through financial support,
in-kind gifts, and volunteering with enthusiasm for the dozens of tasks
- big and small - required to make this move a reality," Burnett continued.
Prairie Hills Covenant Church is located on a major highway that will be
used extensively through Sioux Falls, a city of more than 130,000. The
church averages 200 for worship and has used an Alpha outreach program
to better reach the community for Christ in recent months.
