Funeral Service Conducted for Paul F. Lundgren
LAKELAND, FL (December 23, 2003) - Funeral services were held on December 2 at
Lake Morton Community Church in Lakeland for ordained Covenant pastor Paul
F. Lundgren, who died November 27 of heart failure at his home.
The 80-year-old had served for many years with the Evangelical Alliance
Mission as a missionary to Pakistan and the eastern seaboard of the United
States. He had lived in Lakeland since 1989 and had attended Lake Morton
Community.
Born December 9, 1922 in Columbus Heights, Minnesota, Lundgren completed
studies at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago in 1944 with a Mission major
and attended North Park College and North Park Theological Seminary in
Chicago for portions of his education as well. He was attending the college
shortly after marrying Virginia "Ginger" Zaring on April 20, 1944. He was
ordained at the 1950 Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
In 1945, Lundgren began full-time ministry as a youth evangelist and
singer, traveling for eight months with the evangelism staff at Moody Bible
Institute. He then served at Maplewood Covenant Church in Chicago from
1945-47 and then with the Evangelical Covenant Tabernacle Church of
Kewanee, Illinois, from 1947-53. He began his missionary service after
that.
Lundgren is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Paul "Skip" Lundgren of
Arlington Heights, Illinois; daughters Winona "Nonie" Wakeman of
Minneapolis, and Valerie Weinstein of Warsaw, Indiana; and three
grandchildren.
