$850,000 Gift to Build CBC Dormitory
WINDSOR, CO (December 29, 2003) - Covenant Bible College (CBC) has received an
$850,000 gift from an anonymous donor to construct a dormitory on the CBC
campus in Windsor, Colorado, Covenant News Service has learned.
The gift is the second major contribution this year designated for
expansion of the campus, says Jeff Mazzariello, campus executive director.
"We broke ground in May for the construction of the new classroom/chapel
building, which is almost entirely covered by a gift from another anonymous
donor," he said. "These transformational gifts have truly energized our
board and staff. We see in very tangible ways how God is moving and
directing our mission."
The Colorado campus now can accommodate about 45 students. The new
dormitory, which will have similar design features as the present
dormitory, will double the capacity to house students and summer guests.
"In addition to our eight-month discipleship program, we rent out our
campus facilities during the summer months for retreats, workshops,
meetings, weddings and even family reunions," said Mazzariello.
The third phase of the project w
ill consist of a multi-purpose building that will include a kitchen and
dining facilities. The college now uses a local caterer to bring in all
meals during the school session, and there are no indoor recreation
facilities. The multi-purpose building is projected to cost $1.5 million.
"Since 1990, we have grown from 32 students to nearly 200 students, and
from one campus to three," says Neil Josephson, Covenant Bible College
president since 1991. "In addition to these significant gifts on the
CBC-Midwest campus, we are continuing to receive gifts of both money and
physical labor to create a permanent home for the campus in Ecuador," says
Josephson. "In 2003, over a dozen Evangelical Covenant church work teams
paid their own way to travel to LaMerced, Ecuador, to assist in the
renovation and construction of the new campus. They also brought $4,000 or
more with them to help pay for the supplies, tools, and materials used
while they were there."
The CBC Foundation is coordinating the capital campaigns now under way for
CBC-Ecuador and CBC-Midwest, as well as all annual giving programs for
Covenant Bible College. To learn more about the school and its programs,
