Altadena (CA) Church to Hold Opening Service
ALTADENA, CA (January 15, 2004) - Abundant Life Covenant Bible Church will host a
grand opening worship service on March 7 at Jackson Elementary School with
community events being planned to coincide with the event.
The first meeting for Abundant Life was held in March 2003, the culmination
of a vision for planting a new church during the summer of 1996, according
to information on the church's website at www.abundantlifecbc.com. The
congregation began worship services October 5 last year and pastor Camille
Russell Wooden says she has been encouraged by the changed lives of those
with whom she has worked and ministered.
"Just creating everything has been fun and seeing people and watching their
lives change has been fun," says Wooden, who attended the University of
Texas as an undergraduate student and earned a Master of Divinity from
Fuller Theological Seminary in nearby Pasadena.
Service has been a hallmark for the new ministry. Abundant Life conducted a
toy drive in December. Wooden said that random acts of kindness throughout
the community have been important in establishing a good rapport with the
citizenry.
The church averages between 40 and 50 for its weekly worship services.
Abundant Life's core group of 27 individuals was dedicated during a service
earlier this month.
Abundant Life Covenant Bible Church is located in an area near the Rose
Bowl in a southern California city near Los Angeles. More about the church
can be found by visiting the church website or by calling Wooden at
