Memorial Service Held for Robert W. Carlson
NOTTINGHAM, NH (January 23, 2004) - A memorial service was held at Nottingham
Congregational Church for former Covenant pastor Robert W. Carlson, who
died December 30 in Exeter.
The 90-year-old Carlson had served interim pastorates in Glendale and Lynn,
Massachusetts, and was pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church of New
Haven, Connecticut from 1962 to 1970.
Born March 11, 1913 in Beverly, Massachusetts, Carlson was a pastor in New
England for well over three decades, serving in various denominations
before retiring in May 1980. Ordained originally in the Church of the
Nazarene, he transferred his ordination to the Evangelical Covenant Church
in 1966 and he and his wife Edna have been supportive of East Coast
Conference ministries for many years.
Carlson is survived by his wife, three sons, Warren, Robert and Russell,
and two grandchildren. Memorial donations may be earmarked to Pilgrim Pines
Conference Center of Swanzey, New Hampshire, and the New England Seafarers
Mission in Boston.
