Minnesota Group Acquires Ebenezer Village
CHICAGO, IL (February 2, 2004) - Elim Care, Inc., a senior services
organization based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, has acquired Ebenezer
Covenant Village from Chicago-based Covenant Retirement Communities,
which is part of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
A 65-bed skilled nursing center and 28-unit assisted living residence,
Ebenezer Covenant Village also operates a Medicare-certified home care
agency called Ebenezer Covenant Home Health.
Under the terms of the agreement, Elim acquired the assets and
operations of the nursing center and assisted living residence. It also
acquired the operation of the home care agency, which will join its
existing home health care affiliate, Guardian Angels-Elim Home Care.
Covenant Retirement Communities President Rick K. Fisk emphasized the
mission and ministry compatibility of Elim and Covenant Retirement
Communities. "In our efforts to find a viable operational strategy for
Ebenezer, we found Elim to be a church-based, mission-driven
organization very similar to Covenant Retirement Communities. We are
confident that, although some changes will undoubtedly occur, resident
care will continue to be exceptional."
Elim Care President Robert Dahl said, "Elim is honored that the Covenant
organization has recognized us as a high quality organization with a
similar mission. We will continue that heritage of quality for the
residents, families and staff of Ebenezer Covenant Village."
The change is ownership was finalized January 30. The name of the campus
will change to Lake Ridge Care Center of Buffalo and will be operated as
a separate corporation from Park View Care Center. Elim Care owns and
operates Park View Care Center and Park Lane Apartments in Buffalo, as
well as the Buffalo Adult Day center and Centennial Villa Adult Day
Center in Annandale. Elim Care is a not-for-profit organization
sponsored by the Evangelical Free Churches.
