New Nashville Church Enters Next Phase
NASHVILLE, TN (February 6, 2004) - Designer's Covenant Church, a new
Evangelical Covenant Church plant, will begin its next phase of ministry
on Sunday after hosting preview services throughout the fall and early
winter.
Pastor George Stull and a leadership team of about 40 people have been
meeting since early in 2003 in preparation and planning for this new
church in what is known as "Music City USA." The congregation just
completed the preview stage of the launch process in December, having
drawn as many as 125 during preview services at a local middle school.
Designer's Covenant Church is scheduled for a grand opening in September.
A former youth pastor, Stull moved to Tennessee in 1997 to do ministry.
He believes that a Covenant church in Nashville can offer something
unique and special for the unchurched.
"Even in a traditional church culture like Nashville, Tennessee, there
is still a real need for the development of new churches," he said. "New
churches typically have a passion and zeal for evangelism that really
fuels the life of God in a community. The life of God is the heartbeat
of his church, energized by the mission to expand the kingdom through
life, ministry and outreach. It's sometimes easy for more established
churches to grow comfortable and forget - without that heartbeat of God
beating in it, the church or community of God might be existing without
life or purpose."
"It's not just simply about being different, new, innovative or
relevant," Stull continued. "Rather, it is about being filled with the
life of God that connects us with our emerging generation and them back
to the life of God we've come to experience ourselves . . . that is what
gave birth to the passion and desire of this new community of faith,
reaching out to the people who currently find them selves outside the
community of God with faith, hope and love."
